Operate water and wastewater infrastructure from the City of Greater Sudbury’s Rayside Depot, using equipment, maintenance, and traffic-control skills.
This permanent relief operator works within Distribution and Collection, under a Distribution/Collection Foreperson or Sub-Foreperson. Duties support water treatment facilities, water distribution systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and wastewater collection systems. The position includes equipment operation, repairs, transportation, sampling, and routine testing.
Key Responsibilities: Operate system components across water distribution and wastewater collection facilities
Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs
Transport personnel, materials, equipment, or refuse




Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests
Assist with traffic control as a flag person
Requirements: Successful completion of Secondary School Grade XII education
Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s licence and acceptable driving record
Operator In Training certification
Complete Water Distribution Level 1 and Wastewater Collection Level 1
Ability to write reports, operate radios, and understand drawings
Bring equipment operation, infrastructure maintenance, and safety knowledge to essential City of Greater Sudbury utility services.
