As a Fire Protection Technician, you will work on a specialized crew supporting rail grinder operations. Duties include remote-controlled equipment, hoses, handguns, suppression chemicals, and rail-mounted systems. Work takes place at rail yards, crossings, rights-of-way, and other rural locations.
Key Responsibilities: Operate remote-controlled equipment in high-risk fire zones
Suppress fires during rail grinder operations
Mix and deploy appropriate suppression agents
Prepare sites, remove debris, and maintain equipment
Follow safety protocols in hazardous conditions
Requirements: Two years maintaining and safely operating gas-powered equipment
Valid provincial and clean driver’s license
Class 3 vehicle license with air or DZ
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
First Aid, Enform, or Forest Safety Council training preferred
