Island Health is seeking a Surgical Retina Ophthalmologist for a six month full time locum in its Division of Ophthalmology. The physician will practice in a private medical and surgical retina office, with hospital privileges and access to Royal Jubilee Hospital facilities. The position may start in January 2027, with flexibility.
Key Responsibilities: Provide full time surgical retina locum services
Deliver medical and surgical retina care
Operate approximately one scheduled day weekly
Manage possible urgent after hours cases
Participate in rotating Vancouver Island call coverage
Requirements: Completed a surgical retina fellowship in a recognized program
Eligible for full ophthalmology licensure in British Columbia
Eligible for College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC licensure
Provide retinopathy of prematurity screening when required
Apply surgical retina expertise to a supported Victoria practice with Royal Jubilee Hospital access and rotating Island call coverage.
