Water Restoration Technician

First Call Restorations | Red Deer, Alberta

Do you like being the person who shows up when things go wrong and makes them better?

When a pipe bursts, a basement floods, or a home has unexpected water damage, people don't have time to wait around.

That's where you come in.

First Call Restorations is looking for a Water Restoration Technician to join our growing team in Red Deer, Alberta.

This is a hands-on position for someone who likes to stay busy, solve problems, work with a great team, and see the results of their work at the end of the day.

Why First Call?

We're not interested in building a company where people simply show up, do their job, and go home.

We're building a team.

We work hard, support each other, have some fun along the way, and take pride in doing things properly.

At First Call, you'll find:

- A positive, team-focused workplace culture
- Leaders who actually care about their employees
- A fast-paced environment where every day is different
- Opportunities to learn restoration skills and advance your career
- A team that helps each other instead of pointing fingers
- A company that values initiative, accountability, and a good attitude
- Opportunities to gain experience across water mitigation, contents, demolition, and restoration
- A workplace where your effort and reliability are noticed

What You'll Be Doing

As a Water Restoration Technician, you'll help respond to water damage emergencies and assist with getting homes and businesses back to normal.

Your day may include:

- Responding to water damage calls and emergency situations
- Inspecting affected areas and identifying the source and extent of water damage
- Performing water extraction using skilled equipment
- Setting up and monitoring drying equipment such as air movers and dehumidifiers
- Taking moisture readings and documenting drying progress
- Removing damaged materials when required
- Assisting with controlled demolition
- Moving and protecting contents
- Cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing affected areas
- Setting up containment and protection as required
- Monitoring equipment and returning to jobs to check drying progress

- Maintaining clean and organized work sites
- Taking job-site photographs and completing required documentation
- Communicating professionally with homeowners, customers, Project Managers, and other trades
- Loading, unloading, cleaning, and maintaining equipment
- Working closely with the rest of the team to keep projects moving
- Jumping in wherever you're needed to help get the job done

The Person We're Looking For

You don't have to know everything on day one.

We're looking for the right person.

You might be a great fit if you are:

Reliable — You show up, communicate, and do what you say you're going to do.

Hardworking — You're comfortable with physical work and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.

A problem solver — You don't freeze when something doesn't go according to plan. You figure out the next step.

A team player — You understand that successful jobs require everyone to work together.

Customer-focused — You recognize that you're often working in someone's home during a stressful situation and know how to treat people with patience and respect.

Detail-oriented — You understand that moisture readings, equipment placement, documentation, and job-site organization matter.

Adaptable — Restoration doesn't always happen between 8 and 5. Priorities can change quickly, and you're able to roll with it.

Proud of your work — You want to leave a job knowing you did it properly.

Experience & Qualifications

Previous restoration experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person.

Experience in any of the following is helpful:

- Water damage restoration
- Construction
- Demolition
- Renovations
- General labour
- Cleaning
- Property maintenance
- Carpet cleaning
- Disaster restoration

Additional qualifications such as IICRC WRT certification are an asset.

You should also have:

- A valid driver's licence
- Reliable transportation
- The ability to safely perform physically demanding work
- The ability to work in varying environments
- Good communication skills
- A willingness to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation as required

What We Value More Than Experience

Attitude.

We can teach you how to use an air mover.

We can teach you how to take moisture readings.

We can teach you our systems and procedures.

What we can't teach is work ethic, accountability, respect, and the willingness to be part of a team.

If you're the person who sees something that needs to be done and just does it, you'll fit in well here.

This Isn't Your Typical 9-to-5

Restoration is unpredictable.

You might start your morning setting drying equipment at a flooded basement and end your day helping a homeowner protect their belongings after an emergency.

You'll be moving, learning, solving problems, working with different people, and seeing new situations all the time.

If you hate being bored, you'll probably like this job.

The First Call Difference

Our customers call us on some of their worst days.

They may be dealing with a flooded home, a damaged business, or an overwhelming mess they don't know how to fix.

You get to be part of the solution.

You show up.

You take control of the situation.

You help make a difficult day a little easier.

And you get to see the transformation from "this is a disaster" to "we've got this."

That's something to be proud of.

Ready to Join the Team?

If you're looking for more than just another job and want to become part of a team that works hard, supports each other, and takes pride in what we do, we want to hear from you.

Send us your resume and tell us a little about yourself.

Experience is great. The right attitude is even better.

First Call Restorations is an equal opportunity employer. We thank all applicants for their interest; only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.00-$30.00 per hour
