About the Role
We are developing practical AI applications to improve everyday business operations. We are looking for a part-time developer who can translate business needs into working technical solutions and independently carry projects through development, integration, testing and deployment.
Projects may include AI assistants, automated workflows, internal knowledge systems, and applications supporting digital marketing, content creation and websites.
We assess candidates primarily on demonstrated development and delivery skills. Relevant experience may come from employment, freelance work, open-source contributions or independently developed projects.
What You’ll Do
- Work with colleagues to clarify business needs, define project scope and propose practical technical solutions.
- Independently develop AI applications, agent workflows and internal knowledge systems using existing models, tools and platforms.
- Build web interfaces and integrate APIs, databases and business systems.
- Test and deploy applications, including validating AI outputs and handling system failures.
- Implement appropriate data access controls, permissions and error recovery.
- Troubleshoot issues, maintain applications and improve reliability based on user feedback.
- Document system setup, integrations and maintenance procedures, and provide clear handover guidance.
- Communicate progress, technical limitations and issues that may affect delivery.
What You’ll Bring
- Robust practical application development skills, with experience building web applications and integrating APIs and databases.
- Demonstrated ability to take an application from requirements through testing and deployment.
- Ability to use AI coding assistants such as Codex effectively, while independently reviewing,
debugging and validating generated code.
- Familiarity with workflow automation and robotic process automation (RPA), including when each approach is appropriate.
- For knowledge-base projects, practical experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings and vector databases.
- Ability to implement access controls, validate results and handle errors reliably.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions to colleagues with different levels of technical knowledge.
- Sound judgment when handling confidential business information.
You do not need experience with every platform or tool. Please explain which parts of the role you can deliver independently and where you would need additional support.
How We Work
We value people who listen carefully, take ownership of their work and communicate issues early. You should be comfortable exploring new tools, testing your assumptions and improving solutions in response to feedback.
Our focus is on useful, maintainable applications that meet actual business needs.
How to Apply
Please submit your résumé or a summary of your relevant background, along with examples of applications you have personally developed and delivered.
For each example, briefly explain:
- The business problem or user need.
- Your specific contribution.
- The technologies and integrations used.
- How you tested, deployed and maintained the application.
- The outcome and any important limitations.
Links to working demos, repositories, screenshots or brief case studies are welcome. Please remove confidential, personal or proprietary information from all submissions.
Please also include your general weekly availability and anticipated start date.
Pay: From $42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 – 24.0 per week
Work Location: In person
