Job Summary

The Hobby Shop Associate helps customers find the right products for their hobbies, explains product features, and keeps the shop organized and welcoming. This customer-facing retail role combines sales, product knowledge, merchandising, and point-of-sale support. Applicants should be comfortable learning about hobby products and assisting customers with different levels of experience.

Responsibilities

- Welcome customers, identify their needs, and provide attentive customer service.
- Support retail sales by explaining product options, answering questions, and making relevant recommendations.
- Demonstrate products and explain how they work; assist with product demos as appropriate.
- Use upselling thoughtfully to suggest useful accessories or related products.
- Operate the POS system, process transactions, and handle cashiering and cash handling accurately.
- Keep shelves stocked, displays tidy, and product presentation consistent through effective merchandising.




- Answer incoming calls with professional phone etiquette and direct inquiries appropriately.
- Maintain an organized sales floor and complete assigned tasks within expected timeframes.

Skills

- Knowledge of hobby games, such as miniature wargaming, TCGs and RPGs.
- Robust communication skills, a helpful approach, and a genuine interest in serving customers.
- Confidence with sales, including technology sales or other product-focused retail sales.
- Technical sales experience and familiarity with hobby products are helpful.
- Accuracy with basic math, transactions, and cash handling.
- Good time management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance customer assistance and shop tasks.
- English proficiency required for customer communication; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.

Pay: From $17.60 per hour
