Job Description:

The basic function of a Trail Groomer in the winter is to ensure that trails, chairlift ramps and loading areas, are of a high standard and safe condition for Snowsport participants. Grooming equipment is operating properly. Freestyle Terrain building and contouring may also occur.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. To provide the highest quality of skiing surface as expected at The Georgian Peaks Club

2. Operating trail grooming equipment in a skillful and efficient manner to ensure the best possible skiing surface.

3. Treat all grooming equipment with decency and respect at all times

4. Maintain an open and trustworthy relationship with respect to communication amongst staff and Management

5. Communication between Grooming and all Outside Management and staff are essential, including ski patrol and snowmaking departments

6. To ensure the skiing on club property is as safe and enjoyable as possible and to ensure that all grooming equipment is in good operating order

7. Machine maintenance is required to ensure that all grooming equipment is in the best working condition at all times and any maintenance work is promptly reported to the Area Mechanic or Area Manager

8. Ensure all work is conducted in such a manner that it is safe to do so, and safe for co-workers to do so

9. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Standard Operating Procedures, Manufacturers’ Recommended Operating Procedures, The Employee Handbook, The Club’s Rules & Regulations and Alpine Responsibility Code

10. Operating machines to aid in area risk management duties,



transporting lift operators and race program equipment and aiding with trail maintenance duties

11. Report for work on time and fulfill grooming requirements and direction

Qualifications:

Knowledge or background in basic mechanics, construction, equipment operations, groundskeeping are required

Good mechanical aptitude

Familiarity in heavy machinery operations

Previous grooming experience is an asset

Valid driver’s license

Highly motivated, works well independently with minimal supervision

Willingness to learn and accept new challenges and a strong ambition to achieve the best possible end result

Team oriented with a desire to make a positive contribution to the resort and coworkers

Able to interact well within a team atmosphere and to remain levelheaded in difficult situations

Creative with strong troubleshooting skills

Strong literacy, documentation, communication skills and job professionalism

Manual dexterity, ability to bend, lift and carry heavy objects

Can lead by example and represent the resort to employees, Members & Guests in an ethical and skilled manner

Able to follow directions and instructions

Be safety conscious at all times

Team player attitude

Must be able to work weekends and holidays during ski season

Specific Position Details:

Employment Period: 4 months (December to March)

Part-time hours: up to 40 hours/week for Christmas & March Breaks

Job Type: Evenings & nights

Remuneration: Adult - From $24 per hour

Additional pay: End of season Bonus for completion of employment period ($0.50 to $1.00 per hour worked)
