We are seeking a skilled and dependable Underground Utility Pipelayer to join our construction team. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining underground utility lines such as water, sewer, gas, and electrical systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience operating heavy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient project completion. Responsibilities
- Install PVC watermain, sanitary pipe, storm pipe and service connections.
- Set pipe to proper line, grade and elevation.
- Install fittings, valves, tees, bends and couplings.
- Assist with hydrant assemblies and watermain connections.
- Install sanitary and storm manholes and catch basins.
- Connect individual water and sewer services to subdivision lots.
- Prepare pipe bedding and ensure proper backfill around installed utilities.
- Work closely with the excavator operator during trenching.
- Assist with testing,
flushing and inspection preparation.
- Read basic civil drawings and understand elevations and pipe slopes.
Skills
- 2+ years underground civil construction experience.
- Previous water, sewer and storm installation experience.
- Comfortable working in and around trenches.
- Able to use pipe lasers and basic grade equipment.
- Experience installing manholes and catch basins strongly preferred.
- Robust attention to detail with a focus on safety compliance
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to heavy loads when necessary
