Overview

We are looking for a cook to work in a cooperative setting with a small team where everyone is involved in production . The successful candidate will have experience in production cooking for retail sale.

As the Lead in the kitchen you will be involved in the actual preparation of the product, presentation , packaging, costing, and ordering . The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, and a solid understanding of food safety and sanitation standards. This role is vital in ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and fostering a safe work environment.

An attention to detail, as well as an application of knowledge and techniques to improve our current offerings and cultivate new products .

The position is Monday to Friday 8-5 with the occassional weekend mainly around holidays.

Responsibilities

- Supervise and execute various recipes to mantain a flow of prepared items for retail sale.
- Oversee packaging operations, ensuring products are correctly packed according to specifications .
- Maintain sanitation standards throughout the production area to comply with food safety regulations




- Assist in training new team members on safety procedures, equipment operation, and quality control measures
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and packaging supplies, coordinating with procurement when necessary
- Enforce adherence to food safety standards, including proper sanitation practices and documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste

Experience

- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the food industry or food processing sector
- Knowledge of packaging processes and equipment operation,
- Strong understanding of basic math for measurements, inventory counts, and quality checks

Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a production setting is preferred but not required; leadership qualities are essential for success in this role

Job Type: Full time

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 44 per week
