Senior FP&A; Analyst (Contract)

Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid - 2 days onsite/week)

Duration: Contract

Compensation: $50-$55/hour

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly analytical FP&A; professional to support forecasting, budgeting, headcount planning, and business performance analysis within a global software development company. This role will partner closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive planning processes, improve forecasting accuracy, and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.

This position is best suited for candidates with hands-on experience in financial planning and analysis, including forecast management, budget development, financial modeling, variance analysis, and performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Forecasting & Planning

- Support monthly forecasting cycles, including forecast updates, assumptions validation, and submission preparation.
- Maintain and enhance financial models used for forecasting and business planning.
- Analyze forecast variances and identify key business drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Prepare executive-level reporting packages and management commentary.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

- Support annual budgeting and long-range planning initiatives.
- Consolidate departmental budget submissions and validate financial assumptions.
- Perform detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Develop planning scenarios and sensitivity analyses to support decision-making.

Revenue & Expense Management

- Support recurring revenue forecasting and related financial analysis.
- Evaluate expense trends and maintain consolidated views of actuals versus forecast.
- Partner with stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and financial transparency.
- Reconcile financial data across multiple systems and reporting sources.

Headcount & Workforce Planning





- Support headcount forecasting and workforce planning activities.
- Track approved positions, budget utilization, and forecasted personnel costs.
- Assist with workforce-related financial analysis, modeling, and reporting.

Process Improvement & Reporting

- Identify opportunities to streamline planning and reporting processes.
- Support development of reporting dashboards and analytical tools.
- Document planning methodologies, forecasting assumptions, and reporting processes.
- Collaborate with Finance Transformation and business teams on reporting enhancements.

Required Qualifications Must-Have Experience

- 3+ years of dedicated Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A;) experience.
- Demonstrated ownership of forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis processes.
- Strong experience building and maintaining financial models.
- Experience analyzing operating expenses, headcount, and business performance metrics.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and complex formulas.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills with experience preparing presentations for leadership.
- Experience working with SAP and SAP BPC.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with business leaders across multiple functions.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting SaaS, technology, or recurring revenue business models.
- Exposure to revenue forecasting, ARR, billings, or subscription-based metrics.
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
- CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent finance designation considered an asset.
