The Lounge Hair Studio, an award-winning, well-established salon in Yaletown, is looking for an experienced hairstylist to join our team full-time.

There is room to begin building your own clientele upon hiring, supported by an established salon that has been serving Vancouver since 1997.

For the right stylist, there is also a unique opportunity ahead.

Approximately 6 months from now (spring 2027), one of the owners expects to take paternity leave. At that time, we anticipate transitioning a portion of his established clientele to the successful stylist. The salon's other owner will continue working behind the chair, providing continuity, guidance and support alongside our experienced team.

Our goal is to find that person well in advance, allowing time to become familiar with The Lounge, our team, services, standards and clientele before taking on that additional responsibility, while continuing to build a clientele of their own.

EARNINGS AND COMPENSATION

Your earnings will depend on your schedule, experience, productivity and the clientele you develop and retain.

For someone joining us without an established Vancouver clientele:

$60,000–$85,000+ potential in Year 1, plus gratuities.

As your clientele develops, and particularly with the opportunity to take on an established clientele during the anticipated paternity leave, there is realistic potential for an experienced, productive stylist to earn:

$100,000–$120,000+ annually, based on a full-time schedule.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Because of the potential to eventually take on an established owner clientele, experience and technical versatility are particularly important for this position.





We are looking for someone with:

- Minimum 8 years of professional hairstyling experience post-training
- A professional, reliable and calm approach when the salon is busy
- Confident working independently with established clients without close technical supervision
- The ability to thrive in a collaborative, close-knit team that combines stylists who have worked together for over two decades with newer talent eager to learn, grow, and benefit from shared experience and mentorship
- A recognized Hairdresser's Licence or equivalent professional qualification
- Strong client service and consultation skills and the ability to interpret and execute what a client is asking for
- Excellent English communication skills and a polished presentation
- Strong cutting skills across a variety of hair types, lengths and styles
- Strong colour fundamentals and confidence with blondes, highlights, balayage and dimensional/lived-in colour
- Confident finishing and styling skills
- A genuine interest in fashion, hair and personal presentation
- The motivation to build, retain and grow a clientele
- Eligibility to work in Canada (valid work authorization)

Experience within European, UK, Irish, Australian or New Zealand salon training systems is considered an asset, as is equivalent advanced training or experience from Canada or elsewhere. More important than where you trained is the breadth and standard of your technical skills. This position is not intended for junior stylists or stylists who still require significant technical supervision.

We are particularly interested in candidates looking to establish a long-term career in Vancouver.

BUILDING A CLIENTELE

We don't expect someone new to Vancouver to arrive with a full client book.

The Lounge has an established reputation, strong online presence and a steady flow of current and existing clients.

We'll support you in building your clientele, but we're looking for someone who wants to participate in that growth through excellent service, rebooking, client relationships, retail and service recommendations, and developing their professional presence through social media.

The Lounge is open six days a week, allowing for flexibility in scheduling. Together,



we'll establish a regular 40-hour workweek that works for both you and the salon, with the option to take on additional hours at your discretion while building your clientele.

Everyone contributes to creating the experience our clients expect. That can include helping with appointments, answering phones when needed, retail sales, shampooing, maintaining your workspace and helping keep the salon organized and running smoothly.
