Overview The Shift Leader/Key Holder supports daily restaurant operations by leading the team on shift, delivering welcoming customer service, and helping maintain a safe, organized, and efficient food-service environment. This hands-on role may include food preparation, cooking, serving, and other front- or back-of-house duties. The Shift Leader helps open or close the location, safeguards cash and keys, and sets a positive example for the team.

Responsibilities

- Lead and support team members during assigned shifts, coordinating tasks and maintaining smooth service.
- Provide friendly, attentive customer service and help resolve routine guest concerns professionally.
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and food-safety procedures.
- Assist with serving, food handling, and maintaining clean, orderly dining and kitchen areas.
- Operate the POS system to process orders and payments; use Micros POS where applicable.
- Handle cash accurately and follow procedures for registers, deposits, and shift reconciliation.
- Monitor food quality, storage, sanitation, and secure handling practices in accordance with applicable food-safety standards.
- Support shift opening and closing, including securing the premises, checking equipment, and completing assigned checklists.




- Help train and coach team members; contribute to team management and a respectful, collaborative workplace.
- Assist with interviewing or onboarding activities when requested by management.
- Communicate shift updates, operational needs, and customer feedback to the appropriate manager.

Requirements

- Strong customer service, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively while supervising or guiding team members in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience in food service, restaurants, hospitality, or the food industry is preferred; restaurant management or supervising experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with food preparation, cooking, food handling, and food-safety practices is preferred.
- Experience with POS systems, including Micros POS, and cash handling is an advantage.
- Serving experience is helpful. Bartending or barista experience is also welcome.
- Kitchen experience and hotel experience are beneficial but not required.
- Dependability, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established procedures.
- Ability to perform hands-on shift duties, including standing for extended periods and assisting with routine cleaning and restocking.

Pay: $17.60-$19.00 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 – 30.0 per week
