Working remotely in New Brunswick with one of Postmedia’s news teams, ideal candidates are graduating students or recent graduates. A key asset is the ability to use digital tools to break and develop stories and ideas. Successful candidates will work to tight deadlines covering a wide range of news and other subjects.

This full-time reporting position under the collective agreement will be assigned to the Fredericton Daily Gleaner. Some weekend and statutory holiday work may be included. Develop content to engage audiences across several platforms tailored to meet the varying needs of web and mobile audiences.

Use social media and other digital tools to uncover what’s breaking and what readers in real time are talking about which quickly needs attention.



Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda. Work with digital teams to create interactive content, including text, photo, video and other multimedia elements that both engage and enrich readers.

A graduating journalism school student or graduate, or a candidate from a related field. Newsroom experience is an asset, but you have the ability to quickly layer and prioritize what needs to be done to quickly move up the job learning curve. Flexible to work effectively in breaking news, features and short form, along with non-traditional story formats.

Hungry to make the most of a chance to work in a daily newsroom with top-notch journalists and eager to show what you can do to help by collaborating with colleagues. A digger with natural curiosity, not satisfied with pat answers; always looking for hidden story angles and with a talent, or developing one, for explanatory journalism.

Experience and strength in video, podcast presentation and other digital tools is an asset. A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are also assets. Bilingualism in English/French is an asset No phone calls or agencies please.
