We are looking for a skilled Red Seal Carpenter or registered fourth-year apprentice who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to continue developing within a supportive, skilled construction team.

This is a hands-on, site-based position for someone dependable, safety-conscious and comfortable working independently or alongside other carpenters, apprentices, subcontractors and site leadership.

JOB SUMMARY

The Carpenter will work closely with the Site Superintendent and Lead Hand Carpenter to complete construction activities safely, accurately and efficiently.

The position includes hands-on carpentry throughout multiple stages of construction, reviewing project drawings, completing assigned work to Velocity’s quality standards and helping maintain clean, organized and productive job sites.

The successful candidate will be a capable and dependable carpenter with strong practical skills, attention to detail and a positive approach to teamwork and problem-solving.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform skilled carpentry work throughout all stages of residential and commercial construction
- Complete framing, forming, backing, blocking, installation, finishing and deficiency work as assigned
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and project details
- Lay out work accurately and confirm measurements before construction begins
- Complete assigned work safely, efficiently and to Velocity’s quality standards
- Work collaboratively with the Site Superintendent, Lead Hand Carpenter, other employees and subcontractors
- Identify construction issues and communicate them promptly to site leadership




- Support and mentor less-experienced apprentices when appropriate
- Use tools, materials and equipment safely and responsibly
- Help maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Maintain a clean, organized and professional job site
- Follow company safety procedures and WorkSafeBC requirements
- Accurately track and submit working hours through Buildertrend
- Use Buildertrend to review project information and support daily site documentation
- Assist with quality-control inspections and deficiency completion
- Represent Velocity professionally when interacting with clients, trades and project partners

REQUIREMENTS

- Red Seal Carpentry certification or current registration as a fourth-year carpentry apprentice
- Five-plus years of experience in relevant residential or commercial construction




- Experience with high-end custom residential construction is considered an asset
- Knowledge of residential construction methods, materials and sequencing
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English to understand safety instructions, coordinate site activities and complete required documentation
- Valid BC driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Current First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it
- Own basic hand tools appropriate for the position
- Ability to use Buildertrend or willingness to learn
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of an active carpentry position, including lifting, climbing, kneeling and working in varying weather conditions
