Job Overview

The Physiotherapy Assistant supports licensed physiotherapists in delivering protected, effective care to patients working to improve mobility, strength, and function. The role involves preparing treatment areas, assisting with prescribed therapy activities, and helping patients move safely through their care. Hospital or acute care experience is valued, though relevant patient care experience and a willingness to learn are also important.

Responsibilities

- Assist physiotherapists with patient care and treatment activities as directed.
- Help patients prepare for therapy and move safely between treatment areas, using appropriate mobility aids and transfer techniques.
- Set up, clean, and maintain therapy equipment and treatment spaces.
- Observe patients during activities and promptly report changes, concerns, or safety risks to the supervising clinician.
- Support patients with prescribed exercises and mobility tasks while following the physiotherapist’s instructions.
- Maintain accurate,



timely documentation in accordance with workplace procedures and privacy requirements.
- Communicate respectfully with patients, families, and members of the care team.
- Follow infection prevention, workplace safety, and patient confidentiality practices.

Qualifications

- Experience in patient care or a related healthcare setting is preferred.
- Hospital experience and acute care experience are considered assets.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred, or the ability to learn and apply it accurately.
- Strong communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
- A compassionate, patient-centered approach and the ability to work collaboratively under the direction of a licensed physiotherapist.
- Ability to follow care instructions, maintain professional boundaries, and prioritize patient safety.

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 38.0 per week
