About Lukes Drug Mart

Lukes Drug Mart is an independent, family-owned pharmacy that has operated in Bridgeland since 1951 and is now run by the third generation of the Lukes family. The Bridgeland store includes a full-service pharmacy, coffee bar, soft serve counter, Canada Post outlet, vinyl records and specialty grocery. A second location opened in Killarney in 2010.

The Bridgeland pharmacy is open seven days a week. Current services include medication reviews, injections, prescription renewals and adaptations, compounding, blister packaging and same day delivery across Calgary.

Position Summary

Lukes Drug Mart is hiring a full time pharmacist to serve as licensee of the Bridgeland pharmacy. Under the Pharmacy and Drug Act, the licensee holds the pharmacy licence and personally manages, controls, and supervises the practice of pharmacy in the store. The licensee also works regular dispensing shifts, supervises the pharmacy team and leads the development of clinical services. The position reports directly to the owner.

Key Responsibilities

- Hold the pharmacy licence and meet the licensee's obligations under the Pharmacy and Drug Act, the ACP Code of Ethics and the Standards for the Operation of Licensed Pharmacies, including policies and procedures, record keeping, ACP inspections, and narcotic and controlled drug inventory reconciliation.
- Dispense and counsel as part of the regular pharmacist rotation.
- Provide clinical services, including Comprehensive Annual Care Plans, Standard Medication Management Assessments,



injections and prescribing within your authorization.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants, and take part in hiring.
- Manage dispensary purchasing and inventory.
- Propose and implement current clinical services in consultation with the owner.
- Maintain working relationships with local physicians and clinics.

Qualifications

Required

- Registration on the ACP clinical pharmacist register, in good standing.
- Authorization to administer drugs by injection, with current CPR and first aid certificates.
- Eligibility for approval as licensee by ACP, which generally means at least two consecutive years registered as a pharmacist in Canada, an Enhanced Police Information Check completed within the past six months, and completion of ACP's Licensee and Proprietor Education Programs.
- Experience supervising pharmacy staff.

Preferred

- Additional Prescribing Authorization, or intention to apply within the first year.
- Prior experience as a licensee or pharmacy manager.
- Experience with Kroll.
