About the Role

Keefer Lake Lodge is looking for a confident, personable and hospitality-driven individual to join our Lodge Team as our Lodge Host & Wine Lead for the upcoming winter catski season.

This role has traditionally been held by a Sommelier, but we’re looking beyond the title. While formal wine certification is an asset, it is not a requirement, as you will be working with our lead Sommelier to deliver this experience. What matters most is a genuine interest in wine, the ability to comfortably speak with guests about our selections and recommend pairings, and a strong background in elevated hospitality.

This is a highly guest-facing role and an important part of creating the atmosphere at Keefer. You’ll lead our evening dinner service, welcome and orient newly arriving guests, introduce the evening’s menu, speak to wine pairings and help set the tone for the night.

At Keefer, great hospitality doesn’t always end when dinner does. Our evenings are an important part of the lodge experience. This role is suited to someone who knows how to read a room, bring people together and encourage guests to settle in and enjoy themselves. One night that may mean recommending a great bottle of wine; another may mean gathering guests and staff around the pool table to teach them our favorite game.

What You'll Do

As Lodge Host & Wine Lead, you will:

- Lead evening dinner service and help ensure polished, attentive and seamless service from the Lodge Team.
- Welcome newly arriving guests and deliver our evening lodge orientation in a confident and engaging manner.
- Introduce the evening menu and communicate comfortably about food, ingredients and preparation.
- Speak knowledgeably about our wine selection and recommend wines and pairings based on guest preferences and the evening's menu.
- Work closely with the culinary team, Sommelier, Lodge Manager,

service team and bartender to create a cohesive guest experience.
- Help create a warm, social atmosphere in the lodge and actively engage with guests throughout the evening.
- Encourage participation in the social side of lodge life, including games and informal activities with guests and staff.
- Act as the evening closing supervisor once the Lodge Manager has retired for the night.
- Work alongside the bartender to oversee the final hours of lodge operations and ensure appropriate closing procedures are completed.
- Provide calm, responsible leadership and sound judgment should guest or operational situations arise later in the evening.
- Maintain the high level of professionalism expected within a luxury, remote lodge environment.

Who We're Looking For

The right person for this role is comfortable being both a hospitality professional and a host. You should enjoy talking to people, be confident speaking in front of a group and have the social awareness to know when guests want polished service and when they’re ready to relax and have some fun. You don't need to be a certified Sommelier, but you do need to be genuinely interested in wine and comfortable discussing it with guests. You should be willing to continue developing your wine knowledge throughout the season.

Ideally, you bring:

- Strong restaurant, lodge, hotel or elevated hospitality experience.
- Experience leading or supervising dinner service.
- A genuine interest in wine and food and a working knowledge of wine styles, varietals and food pairing.

- Sommelier or other wine education/certification is an asset, but not required.
- Confidence speaking to groups and delivering guest orientations or presentations.
- Strong communication skills and a warm, engaging personality.
- The ability to read a room and adapt your style to different guests.
- Leadership skills and the maturity to take responsibility for the lodge during evening closing hours.
- A team-first attitude and willingness to contribute beyond a traditional job description.
- Comfort living and working as part of a close-knit team in a remote lodge environment.
- A valid Serving It Right Certificate is essential if handling alcohol
