An established, growing mechanical contractor in the Ottawa region is looking for a Senior Mechanical Construction Estimator to join its construction division. You’ll take ownership of the estimating process, from finding opportunities to preparing competitive, profitable bids and handing awarded projects off to the project team.

What You’ll Do

- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial, institutional, HVAC, and Sheet Metal projects
- Review drawings, specs, tender documents, and addenda; complete quantity takeoffs and labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Obtain and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotes
- Identify scope gaps, risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities
- Manage multiple tenders at once and submit accurate bids on time
- Find new bidding opportunities through tender platforms and industry networks, and build relationships with GCs, developers, and suppliers
- Maintain a pipeline of upcoming, submitted and awarded bids, and follow up on submitted tenders
- Hand projects over to the project team with full budgets, scope, and assumptions; support change order pricing
- Review completed projects to improve estimating accuracy and processes

What You Bring

- 5–7+ years of construction estimating experience,



ideally in mechanical contracting
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC, sheet metal, and mechanical systems
- Experience independently managing the full tender process on commercial and institutional projects
- Solid understanding of labour productivity, material costs, and construction margins
- Proficiency with estimating software and Excel
- Knowledge of Ontario building codes and tender processes
- Robust organization, communication, and negotiation skills
- A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is an asset
