Duties and Responsibilities Include:

- Opening and closing of the department daily.
- Ensure staff attendance and perform scheduling and call-out tasks as necessary.
- Inspect menu items during preparation.
- Supervise meal services for all meals.
- Inventory and purchase food and office supplies daily or as needed.
- Sign delivery slips daily as required.
- Supervise all areas of food production to ensure standards are met.
- Maintain standards of personal hygiene for personnel.
- Inspect and enforce sanitation procedures and practices; e.g., food samples, refrigerator temperatures, etc.
- Monitor and maintain established storage procedures.
- Inspect the department for unsafe equipment regularly and report to the appropriate channels.
- Prepare requisitions for equipment repair and report them to the Maintenance Department and Food Services Manager.
- Maintain working relationship with other Villa staff regarding routine operation of the department.
- Maintain communication with department staff through regular staff meetings/huddles and follow up where required.




- Confer with employees concerning work assignments; conduct team meetings/huddles.
- Report employee workplace incidents and maintain required records.
- Participate in modified work program in coordination with the Health and Safety manager.
- Conduct on-the-job training for personnel and orient new staff to the department.
- Evaluate performance of non-supervisory staff.
- Supervise staff in performance of their jobs. Prepare and administer employee performance appraisals
- Maintain and complete payroll daily and submit bi-weekly using 'Staff Schedule Care' computer program. Confer with Payroll Co-ordinator regarding updates/discrepancies.
- Assist Food Services Manager in menu preparation and revisions.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating daily production tally sheets for daily food production.
- Engage in professional and associated activities.
- Promote compliance with the Health & Safety Act, the Health Protection & Promotion Act, and other government regulations.
- Ensure completion of weekly Departmental Safety Inspection and respond immediately to identify safety issues from staff.
- Responsible for staff discipline and documentation.
- Prepare unionized staff schedule and process requests as they are received, on ' Staff Schedule Care' computer program.
- Keep accurate and complete attendance records for all staff.
- Administer Attendance Management Program- generate statistics, fill forms, and counsel unionized staff.
- Participate in admission conferences as needed.
- Participate in hiring of unionised personnel, assisting HR when needed.
- Participate in CQI team activities as required, i.e., Accreditation, Pandemic Planning, Restructuring, etc.




- Conduct quarterly reviews on assigned Residents and do charting as required on Point Click Care.
- Assist with RCC-related patient nutrition profile updates as needed.
- As a full-time supervisor, participate in the overall administration of the St. Joseph’s Villa as part of the St. Joseph’s Villa Managementteam, planning and developing long-term projects and directional plans.
- Conduct daily Departmental CQI audits, i.e., meal audits, taste panels, and confer with the Manager on results and action plans for improvements.
- Maintain departmental resident nutrition database (Nutribase) including diet requisitions and Dietitian changes. Maintain and updated diet, snack, choice, and table seating lists according on an as needed basis or as needed basis.
- Ensure resident focus, care, connection, and engagement remain a continuous priority.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

- Grade 12 education is required
- Food and Nutrition Management Program Diploma/Certificate is required
- Member of CSNM or eligible for membership is required
- Minimum 2-3 years' work experience as a food service supervisor required
- Experience in the geriatric field is preferred, especially in a long-term care setting
- Experience with labour relations or working within a unionized facility is preferred
