Display and Sponsored Shops (DSS) is Wayfair’s ad platform, helping suppliers boost visibility and drive revenue across Wayfair US, Wayfair CA, and Wayfair Professional. By leveraging both proprietary and external technologies, DSS delivers high-performing ad placements that enhance the customer shopping experience while delivering measurable impact for brands.

You will join the Display Growth and Decisioning (DGD) team at our Toronto development center, and will help design, build, and scale the ad-serving infrastructure powering this ecosystem. Working across backend services and storefront integrations, you’ll focus on building high-throughput, low-latency systems and running experiments that continuously evolve Wayfair’s advertising platform.

What You’ll Do:
As a Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and developing enterprise-scale advertising technology that powers premium brand experiences across Wayfair’s platform. You will:

Collaborate across teams to integrate current advertising formats, working closely with platform engineering, data science, and product management teams.

Drive innovation by introducing best practices, fostering a strong engineering culture, and leading experimentation efforts for new ad products.

Ensure high performance and reliability in ad delivery through efficient system design, data-driven optimizations, and industry-leading standards.

What We’re Looking For:
We seek a passionate, innovative engineer who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and is eager to shape a high-impact product. The ideal candidate will have:

Strong backend development skills, with expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and performance optimization.
*

A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to break down complex problems into scalable solutions and to convert the product requirements into a technical solution.

We Are a Match Because You Have:

2+ years of experience as a fullstack engineer.
*

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
*

Experience in backend software engineering using object oriented language preferably Java
*

Experience working with relational and non-relational databases
*

Experience working with event-driven architectures, DDD, and TDD
*

Mastery of some flavor of modern frontend frameworks and technologies like React, Redux, etc
*

Experience in designing and building GraphQL APIs, including schema definition, resolvers, and efficient data fetching.
*

Experience in Big Data technologies like Apache Kafka/Apache spark/Nosql databases
*

Preferred experience in the CI/CD tools/platforms like Buildkite/Docker/Kubernetes.
*

Experience with Cloud Native architecture platforms like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
*

Experience in developing applications using agentic workflows and AI tools.
*

Experience in system monitoring using tools like DataDog etc.
