Position Overview

The Village of Dinsmore is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as the Public Works Foreman. This position reports to Council and the CAO and plays a key role in overseeing public works projects, managing day-to-day operations, and ensuring the smooth operation of municipal services. The ideal candidate should be organized, self-motivated, exhibit leadership, be community oriented and able to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks.

Key Responsibilities

The Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the municipal infrastructure system, including but not restricted to street and building maintenance, trees, and water and sewer utility operation. This position requires hours to be worked on evenings and weekends for water treatment plant check and power bumps.

· Operate and maintain water and wastewater system, including scheduling and coordination of public works projects and daily operations of the municipal water and sewer infrastructure including water treatment plant, lift station, well and lagoon.

· Coordinate daily work including but not limited to mowing, spraying, water testing, snow removal, roads and sidewalks maintenance, signage, barricades, village properties, cemetery and campgrounds maintenance, flags and Christmas decorations installation, etc.

· Operate and maintain town vehicles, equipment, and attachments as required.

· Coordinate asphalt and pothole repairs,



gravelling, traffic control and culvert maintenance.

· Conduct visual inspections of village buildings for health and safety issues.

· Maintain inventory of tools, stock and equipment.

· Manage work crews including the Assistant Foreman and seasonal laborers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.

· Prepare reports and documentation related to public works activities, including attendance at regular meetings of Council to present water records and an activity report.

· Pest control.

· Other duties as assigned by CAO and Village Council.

Qualifications & Experience

- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

- Possession or ability to obtain Class 1 Water & Wastewater Treatment & Collection Certificates

- Ability to attain WHMIS Certification & First Aid Certification

- Confined Space Entry Training, Fall Protection Training, etc. are assets.

- Experience in sewer and water infrastructure installation, maintenance, repairs or municipal government is considered an asset.

- Basic mechanical skills and experience operating trucks, tractors, and other equipment.

- Ability to perform outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain, wind).

- Lifting heavy objects and walking or standing for periods of time.
