We are a locally owned specialty pet store with two locations in Vaughan and Woodbridge, focused on holistic pet health, premium nutrition and personal, knowledgeable service.

About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on, collaborative Area Manager to lead day-to-day operations at both stores, working closely with the owners. You will learn the business directly from the owners and senior staff members and help turn how we do things into clear written procedures. This role is a positive fit if you enjoy learning, take feedback well, like building structure and like being on the sales floor with your team. It is not a behind-the-desk role.

Your First 3 Months
You will follow a training plan with five milestones:
1. Keyholder certification (POS, refunds, online orders, receiving deliveries, opening and closing, and delivering exceptional customer service)
2. Receiving paperwork, vendor credits and expiry management
3. Ordering and inventory management
4. Team leadership, scheduling and product knowledge
5. Leading daily operations at both stores

What You Will Do
- Conduct regular walkthroughs at both stores to maintain visual merchandising, product rotation, cleanliness and safety standards
- Recruit, onboard, train and coach sales associates, and build a positive, motivated team culture focused on consultative pet care
- Build bi-weekly staff schedules that cover peak traffic within our labour budget
- Ensure receiving accuracy, conduct routine cycle counts, monitor expiry dates and prevent shrink
- Place distributor orders and manage inventory across both stores
- Drive daily and weekly sales targets, track key measures (average transaction value, units per transaction, loyalty program growth) and run in-store promotions




- Deliver personalized nutrition advice, resolve escalated customer concerns and build strong connections with our local pet parent community
- Help write and maintain our store procedures, checklists and training materials
- Work the floor every shift: POS, unpacking stock, merchandising and helping customers

What We Are Looking For
- 1+ year of retail leadership experience (pet retail is a strong asset)
- A collaborative, coachable approach: you ask questions, accept direction and learn how we do things
- Proven ability to coach, delegate, hold staff accountable and motivate a sales team
- Organized and process-minded: you like putting systems in writing so the team can follow them
- A genuine passion for pets, animal wellness and pet nutrition
- Comfort with POS, inventory management and staff scheduling systems
- A valid driver's licence and a reliable vehicle for travel between our stores
- Ability to lift 40 to 50 lbs (bags of food, litter, stock) and be on your feet for a full shift

Schedule
Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week. Shifts vary week to week across both stores, including days, evenings, weekends and some holidays. You will plan your schedule with the owners around store needs. Applicants who need fixed weekday hours will not be a good fit.
