Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Engineer
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite) (4 days a week on site)
Job Type: Contract
Job Description:
About the Role:
- Our client is building a current enterprise content management and digital asset management platform to deliver high-volume public web experiences using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), including Edge Delivery Services (EDS).
- We are looking for a hands-on AEM Engineer who can help build, enhance, troubleshoot and support this modern digital experience platform.
- The ideal candidate will bring strong Adobe Experience Manager expertise, web-development fundamentals and experience working with modern cloud-based AEM environments.
- Prior Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience is not required.
- The successful candidate should, however, be interested in expanding beyond traditional AEM development into production reliability, observability, performance engineering and operational support.
- The individual will be supported in developing these capabilities on the job.
What You Will Do:
AEM Engineering & Development:
- Design, develop, configure and enhance solutions using Adobe Experience Manager.
- Build and maintain AEM components, templates, content models and reusable digital experience capabilities.
- Work with AEM as a Cloud Service and modern AEM development and deployment approaches.
- Support development and implementation of experiences using Adobe Edge Delivery Services (EDS).
- Develop and troubleshoot front-end functionality using JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
- Integrate AEM experiences with enterprise and third-party services such as Search, Analytics, Consent Management, Personalization and other APIs/services.
- Work closely with developers, architects, content teams and Adobe to resolve application and platform issues.
Content & Digital Asset Management:
- Support enterprise content authoring, publishing and digital asset management capabilities.
- Work with AEM Assets / Assets as a Cloud Service and related asset-management workflows.
- Troubleshoot content publishing, caching and content-availability issues.
- Support content authors and business teams in understanding technical issues impacting publishing or customer experience.
- Help establish scalable development and publishing practices as the AEM platform grows.
Web Performance & Edge Delivery
- Help optimize web experiences for performance, availability and customer experience.
- Understand browser-side behavior and troubleshoot JavaScript, CSS, asset-loading and rendering issues.
- Develop an understanding of Core Web Vitals and web-performance optimization.
- Work with CDN and edge teams on caching, invalidation and delivery-related issues.
- Analyze issues across AEM, EDS, browser, CDN and integrated services to identify the source of customer-facing problems.
- CI/CD & Release Engineering
- Work with Git-based development and deployment processes.
- Contribute to automated build, validation and deployment pipelines.
- Support code reviews, branch management, automated testing and release activities.
- Build automated smoke and functional tests for critical customer journeys and integrations.
- Support rollback, republishing and cache-purge activities where required.
- Grow Into Site Reliability Engineering
- This position is intentionally designed for an AEM Engineer who wants to develop SRE capabilities.
You will have the opportunity to gradually learn and take ownership of:
- Application and platform monitoring.
- Real User Monitoring (RUM) and synthetic monitoring.
- Core Web Vitals dashboards, alerting and performance thresholds.
- CDN and edge observability.
- Production incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets.
- Incident management and operational runbooks.
- Resilience, disaster recovery and rollback testing.
- Production change and release reliability.
- Automation of repetitive operational activities.
- Supporting production services in a regulated environment.
- We are not looking for an AEM developer who already knows all of the above. We are looking for someone with strong AEM fundamentals, a production mindset, curiosity, and the willingness to develop into an AEM-focused reliability engineer.
