Role Description The Free Tax Clinic Volunteer is a full-time remote role responsible for providing tax preparation support to individuals who may not otherwise have access to skilled assistance. On a day-to-day basis, the volunteer will help clients gather necessary documentation, review financial information, and prepare basic tax returns in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. The role includes explaining tax concepts in clear, accessible language, answering client questions, and directing individuals to additional resources when needed.

The volunteer will also maintain accurate records, follow data privacy and security guidelines, and collaborate with other volunteers and coordinators to improve clinic processes.



This role may involve participating in virtual training sessions, staying current with tax updates, and contributing to outreach efforts to ensure eligible individuals are aware of clinic services.

Qualifications

- Foundational tax knowledge and the ability to learn and apply current tax laws and filing requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for reviewing financial documents and identifying applicable credits and deductions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to explain tax information in an accessible, client-friendly manner.
- Comfort using digital tools and remote collaboration platforms to manage documents, communicate with clients, and work with the volunteer team.
- High level of integrity, commitment to confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with diverse and potentially vulnerable populations.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively in a full-time remote environment, and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
- Prior experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or customer service is beneficial but not required; training will be provided.
- Interest in social impact, community service, and supporting global employment initiatives aligned with World Of SUPPORT’s mission.
