Job Overview

WMB Holdings is looking for a Lead Dispatcher to oversee daily dispatch operations and lead a team of three dispatchers. This role is responsible for coordinating drivers and equipment, maintaining clear communication, supporting compliance, and ensuring a high level of customer service.

The Lead Dispatcher is a hands-on leadership position suited for someone who understands real-world trucking operations and can manage people, priorities, and problems in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Oversight

- Lead, support, and oversee a team of three dispatchers
- Ensure consistent communication, documentation, and dispatch practices
- Act as the escalation point for driver or operational issues
- Coach and support dispatcher development and performance

Dispatch Operations

- Schedule and dispatch drivers to farm and facility locations
- Monitor fleet movement using dispatch software and GPS tracking
- Ensure dispatch instructions are explicit, accurate, and timely
- Balance workloads across the dispatch team

Route Planning & Optimization

- Plan and adjust routes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Account for weather, road conditions, ferry schedules, and delays
- Adjust schedules as customer or operational needs change

Communication & Coordination

- Maintain ongoing communication with drivers throughout the day
- Provide customers with delivery updates and accurate ETAs
- Coordinate between drivers, dispatch, shop,



and management
- Ensure consistent messaging across the dispatch team

Reporting & Documentation

- Maintain accurate dispatch records and delivery statuses
- Generate and review daily dispatch and utilization reports
- Analyze data to identify operational improvements

Problem Solving

- Resolve delays, disruptions, and service issues efficiently
- Assist with emergency situations alongside the General Manager
- Work collaboratively to find practical operational solutions

Compliance & Safety

- Support compliance with transportation regulations and company policies
- Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance
- Reinforce safety expectations and procedures

Driver Awareness & Accountability

- Reinforce WMB policies and procedures with all drivers

- Remind drivers of:

- Pre-trip and post-trip inspections (including auger videos)

- Route planning and avoiding non-trucking roads

- Proper documentation and load checks

- Prompt reporting of mechanical issues

- Professional customer interaction

Qualifications

- Previous dispatch experience in trucking or transportation
- Leadership or senior dispatch experience preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Robust problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Experience with GPS tracking and dispatch software is an asset
