Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Toronto based team of investment professionals. The Associate will play a key role in working with Directors and Managing Directors to source, analyze and execute private equity, fund and junior debt investments.

Responsibilities

- Assist in evaluating direct equity, fund investments, subordinated debt and special opportunities;

- Contribute tothe planning and completion of due diligence;

- Own financialmodelling, including building and sensitizing LBO models;

- Draft investment committee memos and materials;

- Assist in legal documentation negotiation and review;

- Monitorexisting portfolio companies and prepare quarterly valuations;

- Build relationships with Private Equity, Growth Equity and Venture Capital Firms;

- Collaborate with colleagues across BMO Financial Group, including Commercial Banking and Capital Markets, in Canada and the U.S.;

- Monitorinvestment trends, develop investment theses and pitch on potential investment ideas;

- Assist in special projects as required.

Qualifications





The following qualifications are a must:

- 2-4 years of experience within Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Fund Investing, Leveraged Finance, Restructuring, Transaction Advisory or other relevant areas;

- Deep understanding of capital structure and working knowledge of principal investing;

- High level ofproficiency in Excel and excellent financial modelling skills;

- Abilityto work independently on a number of concurrent transactions with limited direction;

- Abilityto navigate between industries with a deep understanding of the financing needs of private companies from early to mature stage;

- Experience working in a multiple member deal team context;

- Proactive attitude, mature, deep sense of ownership and initiative.

The following qualifications will be considered an asset:

- CFA, CPA, CA, CBV designation or MBA;

- Experience inconducting due diligence.

Compensation

Base salary range: $95,000 - $115,000. Eligible for annual bonus compensation.
