Hello We are a family looking for additional support as we prepare to welcome a newborn at the end of November. We're hoping to hire one or more people to primarily care for our 2-year-old son while Mom tends to the newborn, as well as help with household management while our two older daughters (ages 4 and 6) are at school. We live in Alta Vista and strongly prefer providers who live in the neighbourhood or nearby, as geographic proximity has worked well for both our family and our providers in the past. We also have strong references and would be happy to connect prospective hires with them to learn more about what it's like working in our home. Here are the two roles we're looking to fill. One person could take on both, or apply for just one. 1. Morning Mother's Helper
- Weekdays, 7-9 AM or 7:30-9:30 AM (your choice) We're looking for someone to help prepare breakfast and get our two older children ready for school. Mom, and sometimes Dad, will be home and actively parenting, but we'd appreciate extra support during the busy morning rush. Currently, our 2-year-old joins the school drop-off run, allowing the provider to briefly have the house to themselves to tidy the kitchen before leaving. Once the newborn arrives, we may also ask the provider to watch our toddler until 9 or 9:30 AM. 2. Afternoon Household Helper
- Weekdays, 3-5 hours daily (flexible hours between 12:30 and 5:30 PM) We're primarily looking for help with household management, along with some light childcare. Tasks include resetting living spaces, meal prep and helping with dinner, sweeping and mopping kitchen floors, putting away clean laundry, and tackling other light household projects as time allows.
We have a house cleaner who deep-cleans every two weeks, so no deep cleaning is expected. When our 2-year-old wakes from his nap around 2 PM, we'd like the provider to share childcare with Mom, who will be home with the newborn. Depending on the agreed-upon hours, Mom may occasionally leave our toddler with the provider while picking up the older children from school between 3:30 and 4 PM. A few other things to know:
* A driver who is occasionally available to help with school drop-offs or pick-ups would be an asset.
* We have one pet: a friendly, docile cat.
* We have no known family allergies and no children with special needs or neurodivergence.
* Our children are generally well-behaved.
* We are a scent-free, non-smoking household and expect the same of our providers. Who we're hoping to find We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys keeping a home organized and functional and can use downtime to tackle household tasks. Equally key is a provider who is compassionate, emotionally regulated, and calm when responding to children's needs. We value someone who brings a grounded, confident presence to our home and has a leadership mindset-someone who can set and consistently maintain appropriate boundaries while building a warm, respectful relationship with our children. Above all, we're looking for the right fit for our family. If this sounds like you, please send us a message introducing yourself and sharing your background and qualifications.
