Hello I have 2 male cats who will need to be looked after while we are gone from December 11th, 2026 until December 20th, 2026. A Bit
About Us
My husband and I are 30-something full time working people with no kids
- our two cats are our babies & are super special to us. Kyran
- 15 years old, DIABETIC, 14 lb. gray cat who has a personality similar to a dog. Very sweet and social. Can be pet anywhere, likes belly pets even
- Goes feral over temptations treats. Enjoys a good puzzle and can be quite vocal. Eats plastic if it gets left out so I try to dispose of it asap into the recycling bin (particularly cellophane, tape, etc.) Should be monitored when eating to ensure his appetite is good for insulin. Diagnosed as diabetic in March 2026. It has been a stressful process so far learning how to best support him and keep him healthy. He has lost a lot of weight, has become very vocal/restless and pees often. We are in continued weekly contact with our vet to monitor him and keep doing the best we can for him. He currently receives 2 units of insulin at 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM every day after eating 1/2 can of wet food. He also needs to have his blood drawn for testing before each meal/insulin. Banning
- 11 years old, 17 lb orange & white tabby who is shy and skiddish (scared of shoes in the house, brooms, vacuums, getting water on him, etc.), but curious and also enjoys being pet and played with.
- x2 RFID collar Automatic food dispenser on the main level (tells you when empty)..
Drops at 6AM, 11AM, 2PM, 4PM & 11PM). They also MUST be fed half a can each of wet food between 8am to 8:30 AM and then again at 8am to 8:30 PM, so that Kyran can have insulin at 8:30AM and then again at 8:30 PM every day.
- There is a water fountain on second level in hallway (needs to be refilled with filtered water once or twice a week).
- There's also water in a glass bowl on the main level should be cleaned/refilled with fresh water daily.
- 4 normal litter boxes (needs to be scooped every other day) and 1 robot self-cleaning litterbox in the basement (needs to be emptied when bin is full). All waste goes into compostable bags, tied up, taken upstairs and directly into the compost bin in the garage. Compost should be set out on the end of the driveway every Monday night for Tuesday morning pickup. They enjoy the interaction of playing with them (hide and seek with string/feather toys, red laser toy, kickers, etc.) They are NOT allowed on the kitchen counters or on our dining room table and they know this (but I still catch them sometimes when they think I'm not around). Everything else is pretty much free roam for them. WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR: I'm looking for someone who has experience with diabetic cats who can keep them company with overnight care and someone who especially can keep an eye on Kyran. I work 9-4 M-F, so they are used to being alone during that time, if need be. I'm very laid back, so long as I feel like my boys are being well looked after & my home is being respected. I am looking for someone who uses common sense and make sure the cats have food/water, etc. before leaving. Good communication is of high priority to me. **Please note, I do have a pet camera on the main level I use to keep an eye on things from time to time. If you have a genuine love for animals and are experienced in diabetic pet care, I would love to hear from you. I am putting this ad out there so early because I'm sure a lot of people go out of town for the holidays, so I'd like to get someone booked well in advance and give me time to get to know you. If you are interested in this chance, please send me a message with your experience and availability. I am looking forward to finding a reliable and compassionate pet sitter who will provide the best care for my cats while I am away.
