LEE CHARTERED PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT P. C.
Thornhill
The role Lee CPA is hiring a full-time, permanent Audit Manager to run audit and review engagements from our Thornhill office, starting December 1, 2026. Most of our assurance clients are licensed child-care centres (usually not-for-profits funded through municipalities), other not-for-profits and charities, and financial institutions. We are looking for a technically strong manager who has already audited these kinds of entities and can lead the files with little ramp-up.
What you will do - Manage a portfolio of audit, review and compilation engagements, from planning through to the principal's sign-off - Child care and not-for-profits: audit licensed child-care centres and charities, including funding agreements with municipalities, Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) funding reporting, and special-purpose audit reports and schedules for funders; manage tight funder deadlines (municipal child-care packages are often due about 120 days after year-end) - Financial institutions: plan and lead audits of entities such as credit unions, mortgage and lending companies, and investment- or insurance-related entities, covering regulatory considerations, loan portfolios, allowances for credit losses, and testing of internal controls - Apply ASPE and ASNPO, and IFRS for financial institution clients, and resolve technical accounting and reporting issues - Perform engagements under Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) and Canadian Standards on Review Engagements (CSRE 2400), and compilations under CSRS 4200 - Review working papers, write clear review notes, and coach and develop senior and junior staff on the file - Contribute to the firm's system of quality management under CSQM 1 (documentation, engagement quality, monitoring) - Be the day-to-day contact for boards, executive directors, funders and finance teams What you bring (required)
- CPA designation in good standing with CPA Ontario (or eligible to transfer before starting) - 5 or more years in public-practice assurance, including at least 2 years supervising engagements and reviewing files - Hands-on audit experience in at least one of: (a) child-care centres, not-for-profits or charities, including government or municipal funding reporting and special-purpose reports; or (b) financial institutions such as credit unions, lenders, or investment or insurance-related entities - Strong, current knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, CAS, CSRE 2400, CSRS 4200 and CSQM 1 - Track record of reviewing files to a high standard and coaching junior staff - Clear written and spoken English with clients, boards and funders - Strong numeracy; finalists complete a short work sample using fictional data Assets (not required) - Ontario Public Accounting Licence (PAL), or eligibility to obtain one (we support PDPA completion) - Experience in both areas above (child care / not-for-profit and financial institutions) - Specific experience with CWELCC funding reporting, IFRS 9 expected credit loss models, or regulatory reporting for credit unions or lenders - Experience at a national or international accounting firm (in any country) - CaseWare Working Papers (our audit software) and advanced Excel - Korean language skills would be an asset, but they are not a requirement About Lee CPA Lee Chartered Professional Accountant Professional Corporation is a CPA Ontario-registered public accounting practice in Thornhill led by Natalie Lee, CA, CPA, LPA, MBA.
