Experienced coach. Strong athlete. Current to ninja? We’d like to hear from you.
Fitset Ninja is looking for a coach to join our competitive team coaching staff. Previous ninja coaching experience is welcome, but it is not required. We’re also interested in experienced coaches from other sports who bring strong movement skills, body awareness, and the drive to learn a new discipline.
For example, you might be a competitive sport coach who also climbs, a gymnastics coach with a strong athletic background, or an experienced ninja athlete who also has coaching experience. Your coaching experience and athletic experience don’t need to come from the same sport.
This role involves coaching athletes who train and compete seriously. We’re looking for someone who can break down complex skills, identify what an athlete needs to improve, and help them make meaningful progress.
About Fitset Ninja
Fitset Ninja is a ninja obstacle course training facility. Ninja combines climbing, swinging, balance, coordination, and explosive movement as athletes navigate a variety of obstacles.
We are committed to inspiring people to unleash their full potential—including our employees. We create opportunities for athletes and coaches to build confidence, develop their skills, and pursue ambitious goals.
Who We’re Looking For
You bring two important strengths:
The ability to coach and develop athletes
- Prior experience coaching children or youth in a structured sport environment.
- The ability to teach technique, break skills into progressions, and provide specific, useful feedback.
- Good judgment about when to challenge an athlete and when to adjust your approach.
- The ability to build trust, maintain expectations, and support athletes through frustration, fear, and setbacks.
- Flexible & adaptable to changing situations
A strong foundation in movement
- Strong body awareness, coordination, and the ability to learn unfamiliar physical skills.
- An athletic background that translates to obstacle training, such as climbing, gymnastics, parkour, ninja, calisthenics or another movement-based discipline.
- The willingness to practise, seek feedback, and develop your own understanding of ninja alongside your coaching.
Competitive coaching experience in another sport, combined with a strong personal background in climbing or a related discipline, could be an excellent fit.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and deliver purposeful training sessions for competitive ninja athletes, primarily ages 7–19.
- Coach children ages 5+ through additional programming as scheduled.
- Teach obstacle technique, movement efficiency, and competition skills through clear instruction and demonstrations.
- Assess athletes’ strengths and development needs, and adapt progressions to their abilities.
- Help athletes develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.
- Design, set up, and reset competitive training stations to support athlete development.
- Work with our head coach and competitive coaching team to deliver consistent, high-quality programming.
- Maintain a safe, engaged, and respectful training setting.
- Continue developing your ninja skills and technical coaching knowledge.
Qualifications
- Prior coaching experience with children or youth is required.
- Experience developing athletes beyond introductory participation; competitive coaching experience is a strong asset.
- Strong personal movement skills and the physical ability to learn and demonstrate ninja techniques.
- Clear communication, strong leadership skills, and a willingness to give and receive feedback.
- Reliability, organization, and the ability to adapt to different athletes and situations.
- Recurring availability on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings.
- Valid Standard First Aid / CPR-C within three months of hire.
- A completed and cleared Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search before starting.
Schedule Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening availability is required. Additional coaching shifts and shifts to design and reset competitive training stations may be available.
Compensation & Benefits
- $20–$25 per hour, based on the depth and years of relevant coaching experience, including experience coaching or competing in ninja.
- Extended health benefits after three months of employment.
- On-site gym access.
- Career development and opportunities for advancement.
- Casual dress.
- Company events.
- On-site parking.
- Wellness program.
