CiviCorp Excavation Inc. is a growing civil contractor specializing in excavation, earthworks, underground utilities, and site development across Nova Scotia. We're hiring an experienced Foreman to lead our field crews: someone who knows civil work inside and out, keeps a site secure and productive, and gets the job built right. You'll report to the Superintendent and lead a crew of operators, pipe layers, and labourers.

What You'll Do

- Run the crew day to day: plan the work, assign tasks, and keep equipment and people productive.
- Lead on safety: hold daily toolbox talks, complete hazard assessments, and enforce company policies and Nova Scotia OH&S; regulations.
- Build to plan: read drawings and grade stakes, and check line, grade, and compaction as the work goes in.
- Coordinate the site: work with the Superintendent, trucking, suppliers, utility locates, and inspectors to keep the schedule on track.
- Keep accurate records: complete daily reports and crew time cards with the correct cost codes, and track materials and quantities.
- Develop your crew: train newer workers, set expectations, and address performance or safety issues on the spot.
- Raise issues early: flag delays, changes, damage, and equipment problems to the Superintendent right away.

What You Bring
- 5+ years in civil construction, excavation, or underground utilities, including 2+ years leading a crew (preferred).
- Able to read plans, profiles, and grade stakes; familiar with trenching, shoring, and compaction standards.




- Strong knowledge of job-site safety and Nova Scotia OH&S; requirements.
- Clear communicator and organized leader who stays calm under pressure.
- Comfortable with basic paperwork and tablet- or phone-based reporting.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Assets: First Aid/CPR, Ground Disturbance, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and the ability to operate equipment when needed.

Working Conditions Outdoor work in all weather on active construction sites, with noise, dust, uneven ground, and moving equipment. Safety boots, hard hat, hi-vis clothing, and hearing protection are required. Early starts and occasional extended hours may be needed to meet project deadlines.
