The Opportunity

Calgary, AB • 6-Month Contract An established energy data technology company is seeking a Data Domain Lead to guide the delivery, quality and interpretation of energy infrastructure data. You’ll set technical standards, coordinate priorities and oversee data delivery across pipelines, wells, facilities, incidents, integrity, risk, regulatory and spatial datasets. This role combines domain expertise, technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

What You'll Do

- Set priorities across customer delivery, GIS content, data support and quality improvement.
- Translate product, platform and customer needs into sequenced delivery plans.
- Balance delivery commitments, support requests, data quality and improvement work against team capacity.
- Communicate commitments, progress, dependencies and risks to internal partners and customers.
- Lead data delivery, validation and customer-specific projects from requirements through completion.
- Confirm scope, data consumers, dependencies, effort and success measures before committing to delivery.
- Direct GIS content standards and sequencing while reviewing spatial data for fitness for use.
- Define data standards, business rules, lineage, ownership and appropriate data usage.
- Assess regulatory files, spatial datasets, third-party sources and customer-provided data for operational and product use.
- Establish data-quality expectations, validation rules and remediation approaches.
- Partner with Data Infrastructure to implement technical controls and resolve underlying data issues.
- Document data sources, relationships and quality considerations to ensure consistent interpretation.
- Investigate source changes, delivery issues and data questions using SQL and Python.
- Coordinate and mentor Data Domain Specialists, maintain a transparent work queue and review completed work.




- Partner with Product Management, Business Services, product teams and Data Infrastructure to align data work with customer needs.

What We Are Looking For

- Strong experience working with energy infrastructure data and related business domains.
- Knowledge of pipelines, wells, facilities, incidents, asset integrity and operational risk data.
- Experience working with regulatory filings, spatial datasets and third-party data sources.
- Strong understanding of data quality, validation, lineage, ownership and business rules.
- Experience leading complex data delivery and customer-specific data projects.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data investigation, validation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with GIS data and spatial content management.
- Ability to assess whether data is accurate, complete and fit for operational or product use.
- Experience defining data standards, documentation practices and repeatable quality controls.
- Ability to coordinate workloads, establish priorities and manage competing delivery demands.
- Strong technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge-transfer skills.
- Experience collaborating with data infrastructure, product and customer-facing teams.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex data issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to identify recurring manual work and translate it into automation requirements.
- Strong judgment, accountability and problem-solving skills, with a focus on durable solutions.
