Overview The Food Service Unit Manager oversees daily food service operations, supports a welcoming guest experience, and leads a team in delivering safe, consistent, high-quality service. This hands-on role coordinates kitchen and front-of-house activities, maintains food safety standards, and helps the unit meet operational goals.

We are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic individual with a robust customer service focus. As this is a smaller operation the Unit Manager will be involved in all day-to-day cafeteria activities.

The successful candidate must have good culinary skills to support daily food production while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and cost control.

Duties

- Food preparation and production
- Serving students and staff
- Cash handling and point-of-sale operations
- Recording and tracking daily sales
- Ordering and inventory management
- Cost control and waste reduction
- Supervising a General Help employee who works 3 hours per day on Thursdays and Fridays




- Implementing and monitoring health and safety programs
- Maintaining operational and food safety standards

Experience

- Food service experience and prior supervising experience are preferred.
- Experience in restaurant management, restaurant operations, or the broader food industry is an asset.
- Background in team management, leadership, customer service, food preparation, cooking, food handling, or food safety is valuable.
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling is preferred; Micros POS knowledge is a plus.
- Kitchen experience or experience in hospitality, including hotel experience, is an advantage.

Time off according to the school calendar (March Break, statutory holidays, Christmas break, and summer)

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 37.5 per week
