DirectCarpet makes custom stair runners in our Hamilton workroom and ships them to customers across North America. We're a small shop looking for one reliable, mechanically inclined person to learn the trade and become a key part of how our product gets made.

What you'll do, starting out

- Run the carpet binding machine to bind and sew carpet edges (we train you)
- Cut underpad to size
- Cut carpet samples
- Much of the cutting is done on the floor, on your hands and knees, with a knife and straight edge
- Package and ship orders
- Keep the workroom and warehouse clean and organized
- General warehouse duties as needed

What you'll grow into

- Custom cutting carpet to each customer's exact measurements
- Taking on more of the production from start to finish

What you need

- Mechanically inclined: you can run a machine, notice when something is off, and make basic adjustments
- Comfortable reading a tape measure and cutting accurately
- Dependable. You show up every day, on time. In a small shop, this matters more than anything else
- Comfortable working on your hands and knees on the floor for long stretches
- Able to stand most of the day, bend, kneel,



and lift and move heavy rolls of carpet

- Flooring or carpet installation background

The job

- $20.00 per hour to start, with raises for the right person
- Part-time, 3 days per week to start, leading to full time 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
- 30-minute unpaid lunch
- On site in Hamilton, Ontario

Experience:
- manufacturing, trade or shop: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
