About the Role

Total Transformer Services (TTS) is growing and we're looking for a proactive and organized Health and Safety Specialist to provide experienced, hands-on health and safety support across our field, shop, and office operations.

This role is responsible for independently supporting and improving TTS's health and safety program, including COR requirements, regulatory compliance, training, inspections, investigations, document control, and field engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with management, supervisors, office staff, and field crews to identify risks, strengthen safe work practices, and follow corrective actions through to completion.

If you are an experienced construction or industrial safety professional who combines sound judgment with a practical, approachable style, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

- Provide practical health and safety guidance to management, supervisors, project teams, and employees across field, shop, and office operations.
- Maintain and continuously improve TTS health and safety policies, programs, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Lead the ongoing administration of the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program, including evidence collection, internal reviews, corrective actions, and audit preparation.
- Interpret applicable occupational health and safety requirements and recommend updates to company programs and practices.
- Conduct workplace and field inspections, risk assessments, and compliance reviews; document findings and verify that corrective actions are completed.
- Lead or support incident, injury, near-miss, and hazard investigations, including root-cause analysis, reporting, and corrective-action tracking.
- Develop and review job safety analyses, toolbox talks, safe work procedures, emergency plans, and other safety documentation.
- Coordinate employee orientations, safety training, certification renewals, and competency records; identify training gaps and support course delivery.
- Maintain accurate safety statistics, training matrices, inspection records, investigation files, and audit-ready compliance documentation.
- Advise and support the Joint Health and Safety Committee, including workplace inspections, recommendations, meeting documentation, and follow-up items.
- Complete customer prequalification packages and support contractor, client, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Monitor safety performance and trends, prepare reports and communications, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Promote a positive safety culture through visible field engagement, coaching, education, and consistent follow-up.

What You Bring

- Minimum three years of progressive health and safety experience in a construction, industrial, utilities, electrical, or field service environment.
- Post-secondary education or a certificate in occupational health and safety, environmental health and safety, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements across provinces, hazard-control principles, and incident investigation practices.
- Demonstrated experience conducting inspections, supporting investigations, preparing safety documentation, and following corrective actions to completion.
- Experience administering COR or another health and safety management system is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate, confidential, and audit-ready records.
- Transparent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to advise and influence employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn safety, training, and field documentation systems.
- A practical, approachable, and solutions-focused attitude with strong attention to detail.
- CHSO, NCSO, CRST, CRSP, or another recognized safety designation is considered an asset.

Additional Requirements

- Valid G-class driver's licence and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability and willingness to travel to field service sites, including occasional out-of-town or overnight travel.
- Flexibility to adjust hours when site visits, training, incidents, or operational requirements occur outside regular office hours.
- Successful completion of a background check and ability to meet customer or site-specific access requirements.
