SL Sheet Metal is a local Edmonton HVAC and sheet metal contractor and a Ruud Pro Partner dealer. We install and service heat pumps, air conditioning, furnaces, ventilation and custom ductwork for homeowners and small commercial clients. We’re a small team that takes pride in doing the job right the first time. Our motto is Good, Fast & Fair, and we mean it.

We’re looking for an experienced HVAC technician who can run jobs, lead a crew and be someone customers and coworkers can count on. This is a hands-on position. You’ll be working with your tools, troubleshooting problems and making sure jobs are completed properly.You’ll need strong installation and service experience with heat pumps and A/C systems, along with a solid sheet metal background.

Being comfortable taking site measurements and preparing sketches for custom ductwork is an important part of this role.

What you’ll do

- Install, troubleshoot, service and repair heat pumps, central air conditioning and mini-split systems
- Lead a crew on residential and small commercial jobs, from setup to final walkthrough
- Handle service calls and see jobs through to completion (during business hours only, no after hours or 24/7 on call)
- Measure custom ductwork, transitions and fittings, and provide accurate dimensions and clear sketches for the shop
- Plan connections to existing ductwork and work with the shop to make sure fabricated pieces fit properly
- Maintain protected work practices and check the quality of the work before leaving a job
- Explain the work to customers and answer their questions
- Work with the owner on scheduling, materials and job planning
- Help apprentices and newer technicians develop their skills

What we’re looking for





- Journeyperson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic certificate, with Red Seal considered an asset
- Strong hands-on experience installing, servicing and troubleshooting heat pumps and A/C systems
- Experience running jobs or leading a crew
- Solid sheet metal and ductwork experience, including measuring and laying out custom ductwork, transitions and fittings
- Ability to prepare accurate measurements and sketches for fabrication
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a clean driver’s abstract
- Someone dependable who communicates well, takes pride in their work and uses good judgment
- Confidence working independently and professionally in customers’ homes

Other experience we’d value

- Gasfitter Class B certificate
- Sheet Metal Worker certificate
- Familiarity with Ruud equipment
- Experience using job management software

Pay: $45.00-$50.00 per hour
