Black & McDonald is actively seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join our Construction team in London. The successful candidate will lead the analysis of cost estimates and preparation of Mechanical work take-offs on mechanical projects. They will provide technical support to project operations, with emphasis on Plumbing estimating and support project changes. Prepares Mechanical work take-offs and estimates on projects including costs of materials, labour and equipment required for projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications with a focus on ICI Plumbing Coordinates price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects regarding tenders Participates in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, and project closing, as required Prepares and maintains a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors Liaises, consults and communicates with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepares economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates Conducts material and equipment purchasing for secured key projects. Updates and maintains estimating logs and past project archive.



Utilizes Estimating software and CRM platform (i.e Autobid, Salesforce). Travel to various sites or clients to undertake the above. Mechanical trade school The following certifications/designations are considered an asset Mechanical trades background Project Management Professional (PMP) WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS ~5+ years’ estimating experience on Mechanical and/or Plumbing ICI construction projects ~ Construction scheduling, planning, and execution experience required Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code, specialization in plumbing code is considered an asset. Proficient user of estimating software (such as AutoBid) Knowledge of related local union collective agreements Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project) Knowledge of construction software (such as Procore) Knowledge of construction contract law (CCDC and other typical contract types.)
