A project-driven organization in the natural resources and infrastructure sector is seeking a Project Accountant to join its finance team supporting a major development in Quebec. About The Role

Reporting to a senior member of the finance team, the Project Accountant will support the financial management of a major development project. This position focuses on project accounting rather than traditional corporate accounting and offers broad exposure to project costing, financial reporting, procurement support, and process development. As the project grows, the scope of the role will continue to evolve, providing excellent opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility.

What You'll Do

- Monitor project costs, budgets, and expenditures to support effective financial management
- Prepare project financial reports, forecasts, and analysis for finance and operational leadership
- Track commitments, cost allocations, and project spending throughout the project lifecycle
- Support procurement-related accounting activities, including invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and cost tracking
- Partner with project managers and operational teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making
- Assist with month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting related to the project
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and financial processes as the project develops
- Help establish scalable finance procedures and best practices within a growing project environment




- Support special projects and other finance initiatives as business needs evolve
- Travel to the project site in Quebec as required to collaborate with operational stakeholders

What You Bring

- 3+ years of experience in project accounting or project finance
- Experience within the mining, construction, engineering, infrastructure, or other project-based industries
- Strong understanding of project costing, budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting
- Bilingual communication skills in both French and English
- Experience using ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to a changing project environment
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both finance and operational teams
- CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required
- Ability to travel to project sites within Quebec as needed
