Meech Creek Contracting is looking for an experienced Rubber Tire Backhoe Operator to join our team.

We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and safety-conscious operator with experience in underground utility construction. The ideal candidate can work independently, operate equipment efficiently, and take pride in producing quality work.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate a rubber tire backhoe for excavation, utility trenching, backfilling, and site grading.
- Work safely and efficiently around underground utilities, including natural gas, electrical, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Operate and change equipment attachments, including breakers and tampers.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, grade slips, and utility locates.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain equipment in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
- Work independently while communicating effectively with supervisors, crew members, and other contractors.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable ground disturbance requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

- Minimum 2–3 years of rubber tire backhoe operating experience. Rubber tire backhoe experience is mandatory.
- Previous experience working around underground utilities.
- Valid Ground Disturbance Level II and First Aid certifications.
- Ability to read and understand site plans, grade slips,



and utility locates.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Clean driver's abstract.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work independently and safely in a quick-paced construction environment.

Assets:

- Residential and commercial construction experience.
- Experience operating additional equipment, including skid steers.
- Equipment Operator Competency Certificate.

Additional Site Access Requirements Successful candidates must be willing to undergo pre-access drug and alcohol testing as required for safety-sensitive positions and client worksites.

Applicants must also meet applicable client-specific safety and site-access requirements.
