We are looking for a Sales Representative – Retail & Contractor Sales to join our Peterborough team.

This is a full-time sales position working approximately evenly between our retail store and contractor sales department, with flexibility depending on customer demand, staffing and business needs.

The successful candidate will assist homeowners, renovators and professional contractors with product inquiries, orders, quotations and general sales support. Previous building material, construction or renovation experience would be an asset, but we are willing to train the right person who has a positive attitude, strong customer-service skills and a willingness to learn.

This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in both retail and contractor sales, develop broad knowledge of the building materials industry, and grow and advance within the company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

- Provide friendly and knowledgeable service to retail and contractor customers.
- Assist customers with product selection, orders, quotations and general inquiries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers.
- Assist customers with building materials and home improvement products including siding, windows, doors, paint, fasteners, tools and related products.
- Answer telephone inquiries and follow up with customers when required.
- Learn and maintain strong product knowledge.
- Learn and use company computer systems for sales, orders and customer information.
- Assist with paint sales and mixing/tinting paint when required.
- Assist with stocking shelves, merchandising and inventory when working in retail.
- Participate in company-provided product and safety training.
- Work between retail and contractor sales based on scheduling and business needs.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills




- Solid customer-service and communication skills.
- General knowledge of construction, building materials or renovations is an asset.
- Knowledge of siding, windows, doors and paint is an asset.
- Previous building material, hardware, contractor sales or home improvement experience is an asset.
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn new technology.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a busy environment.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to assist with stocking products such as boxes, paint, fasteners, tools and other retail merchandise.

Pay & Hours $19.00-$22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

This is a full-time hourly position with approximately 32 to 44 hours per week, depending on scheduling, seasonal business levels and operational requirements.

Hours may be reduced during slower winter months.

Overtime worked in excess of 44 hours per week will be paid at time and a half.

Current store hours:

Monday-Friday: 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Saturday: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Saturday availability is required based on scheduling.
