Support emergency veterinary care at VEG in Whitby, Ontario, using patient triage and treatment assistance onsite in a full time hospital setting.
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will support registered veterinary technicians and veterinarians during emergency cases. The work includes triage, diagnostics, treatments, anesthesia support, and patient care. VEG provides training pathways for CPR, anesthesia support, ultrasound, and catheterization.
Key Responsibilities: Welcome pet parents and triage incoming patients toward care
Assist with treatments, diagnostics, bloodwork, imaging, and catheter placement
Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases
Manage IV fluids, transfusions, and medication administration
Support outpatient and inpatient care through patient rounds
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent
One or more years of veterinary assistant experience
Basic computer and electronic medical record skills
Excellent communication with pet parents and teams
Availability for rotating nights, weekends, and holidays
Bring empathy, communication, and veterinary care skills to emergency patients and pet parents at VEG in Whitby.
