Support laboratory testing in Southampton as a Medical Laboratory Assistant using sample collection, phlebotomy, and laboratory software systems. This is part-time temporary work.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Laboratory Assistant works within professional scope in a team environment. The position collects samples, conducts medical laboratory tests, and prepares, cleans, and maintains equipment. Work follows applicable legislation, CMLTO requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Collect samples within skilled practice scope
Conduct medical laboratory tests according to standards
Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment
Maintain accurate records and documentation




Support patient safety and workplace safety practices
Requirements: MLPAO or CSMLS Certified Lab Assistant Diploma
Secondary education or equivalent
Understanding of LIS and document management systems
Ability to prioritize changing priorities and use good judgement
Availability for off-shifts, standby, on-call, weekends, and multi-site coverage
