The City of Dawson seeks a Communications Officer to lead organization-wide messaging and advise the Chief Administrative Officer and departments. You will manage communications strategy, public engagement, digital platforms, and sensitive information. The work turns municipal decisions, projects, services, and issues into accessible communication for different audiences.
Key Responsibilities: Develop communications strategies, standards, templates, and best practices
Advise leadership and departments on public communication and sensitive issues
Translate municipal policies, projects, and services into accessible information
Produce website, social media, newsletter, notice, and media content




Support emergency communications and organization-wide information sharing
Requirements: Post-secondary education or equivalent education and experience
At least two years of relevant communications or public relations experience
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and audience adaptation skills
Experience planning communications projects, campaigns, or engagement initiatives
Robust judgment, discretion, organization, and attention to detail
Bring strategic communications, public engagement, and digital platform experience to strengthen how the City of Dawson connects with residents.
