Job title: Social Worker
Description
Reportingto the Coordinator – Student Services, the Social Worker provides prevention,screening and intervention with students who are experiencing or are likely toexperience emotional, social, academic or family problems to enable them toachieve their goals through academic success, social and emotional adjustmentand integration into college life.
Morespecifically, but not limited to, the Social Worker:
Conducts a psychosocial assessment of a personwithin the framework of the protection supervision of persons (this activity isreserved exclusively for social workers);
Provides short-term counselling to a diverse setof clients dealing with various issues;




Arranges activities designed to ensure thatstudents maximize their potential, particularly in their personal, family andsocial life;
Designs and participates in screening, outreach,awareness and prevention programs focused on issues related to mental healthand academic success of the student population;
Develops and maintains contacts withrepresentatives of the health and social services network and other partnerorganizations in their own area of competence;
Intervenes in order to defuse crises or emergencysituations and suggests avenues for resolving them;
Collaborates with staff and faculty, as well asservice providers or other organizations as needed;
Attends Counselling team meetings andparticipates in case studies within multidisciplinary teams;
Prepares and updates records adhering to thestandards of their profession and the College’s by-laws.
Otherrelated tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of thisposition may be assigned.
