Tech Lead

1 year contract

Remote (Travel to Toronto or Montreal thus local)

Must have: Snowflake, Azure, DataBricks, and Data Modeling, Data Vault

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide technical leadership across multiple Data PODs, ensuring best practices, high-quality development, and scalable design
- Oversee development, monitoring, and optimization of Azure Data Factory pipelines, Azure Event Hubs streaming solutions, Logic Apps integrations, and Databricks workloads
- Architect and implement Snowflake components including storage integrations, internal/external stages, external volumes, Iceberg tables, micro-partitioning strategies, clustering, search optimization services, and dynamic tables
- Troubleshoot complex production incidents, system failures, and performance issues across Azure and Snowflake ecosystems
- Drive design and code reviews, environment governance, and deployment standards
- Collaborate with various client groups, external partners, and vendors to understand requirements, propose technical solutions, and ensure alignment across all stakeholders
- Mentor and lead a large engineering team (25+ members), providing guidance, skill development, and performance management
- Ensure adherence to architectural standards, security practices, and compliance requirements
- Manage delivery timelines, risk mitigation,



and communication to senior stakeholders
- Guide teams through environment promotions, release cycles, and operational readiness

Required Skills and Experience:

- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Engineering: ADF, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Databricks
- Deep knowledge of Snowflake: storage integrations, stages, external volumes, Iceberg tables, micro partitions, clustering and search optimization, dynamic tables
- Robust SQL, Python, and PySpark skills for data processing and optimization
- Solid understanding of data ingestion patterns, orchestration, and streaming architectures
- Proven track record in triaging, analyzing, and resolving critical production issues
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams of 25+ engineers
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with diverse client groups, partners, and vendor teams
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with CI/CD processes and version control for Azure and Snowflake deployments
- Familiarity with data modelling practices such as Dimensional Modelling and Data Vault
- Understanding of data governance, data quality practices, and platform security
- Exposure to enterprise architectural review processes and cloud governance

Preferred Knowledge of Tools and Technology:

- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Event Hubs
- Azure Databricks
- Azure Logic Apps
- Snowflake Snowsight
- Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools
