THE ROLE

Under the direction of the Translation Services Manager, the Translator-Reviser independently manages workload to meet deadlines by evaluating incoming requests, negotiating due dates with clients, outsourcing documents as required and establishing priorities. They translate independently written material from English to French, often under tight deadlines, and maintains the intent and style of the original material. The Translator-Reviser coordinates freelance services, acting as a liaison between customer and contractor, and revises outsourced French and English documents for quality control. They proofread translated material and corrects spelling, grammar, punctuation and typing errors before publication. The Translator-Reviser also performs terminological research and creates related records for the translation database.

This position will be working primarily with CANEX, the retail division of CFMWS, and therefore will be focused mostly on marketing and retail-related documents.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Translation, or in a related field, AND some years of experience in translation, or in a related field

Experience In translating from English to French in a retail environment, including but not limited to product descriptions,



marketing and training material In transcreating marketing material In revising French language documents In proofreading In terminological research In assessing translation demands In negotiating deadlines and managing changing priorities in a multi client environment In resolving terminology concerns to ensure consistency of English and French communication In managing deadlines In managing freelance services In managing projects
