Foreseeson Technology Inc. is a multifaceted, award-winning technology innovator providing electronic manufacturing, IT security distribution, electric vehicle charging equipment, and Intelligent software platforms for EV Charger and Energy Management System. Foreseeson has experienced over 25 years of continuous growth through innovation and we are also known for pioneering green technology to lower our carbon footprint through electric vehicle charging partnerships with municipalities and corporations.

About the Project

Foreseeson Technology Inc. is developing a modular Energy Storage System (ESS) using high-voltage battery packs. The system combines battery management, power conversion, embedded control, charging and discharging coordination, and local and cloud-connected monitoring.

The project includes the evaluation and integration of power conversion equipment, with an emphasis on safe operation, independent battery control, productive energy flow, modularity, and future product certification.

Foreseeson is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to develop, evaluate, integrate, and validate the power conversion architecture required for the ESS prototype and its future commercial configurations.

Contract 1 year, with potential for contract extension or permanent/full-time

Expected pay for this position is CA$95, 680per year (Final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and alignment with the role)

Core accountabilities and Responsibilities

- Develop and evaluate the power electronics architecture connecting battery packs, DC-DC converters, charging and power distribution modules, inverter, and AC input/output interfaces.
- Define electrical requirements for voltage ranges,

current limits, power ratings, conversion efficiency, operating modes, and protection coordination.
- Assess suitable unidirectional and bidirectional DC-DC converter topologies for interfacing individual battery packs with the system DC bus.
- Investigate approaches to operating battery packs with different states of health, available capacity, and voltage characteristics.
- Evaluate off-the-shelf power conversion equipment and assess its suitability for the intended electrical, control, communication, safety, and certification requirements.
- Collaborate with the Senior Electrical Engineer and Embedded Systems Engineer to define converter interfaces, control signals, telemetry, and fault-handling requirements.
- Battery Charging and Power Distribution
- Develop and validate power conversion requirements for charging and discharging multiple battery packs.
- Evaluate charger and power distribution modules, considering compatibility, efficiency, cost, and integration risks.
- Evaluate charging and discharge power limits, current sharing, converter operating windows, and battery-specific constraints.
- Develop test plans for converter performance, battery-side and DC-bus behaviour, transient response, protection functions, and thermal performance.

- Investigate power-flow coordination strategies that support independent battery control and efficient system operation.
- Inverter and AC Output Integration
- Evaluate and integrate an appropriate inverter for converting battery-side DC power to regulated AC output.
- Support bidirectional power conversion where required by the selected system architecture and equipment capabilities.
- Develop requirements for three-phase 208 VAC and 480 VAC outputs, including rated power, voltage and frequency regulation, load characteristics, and interface protection.
- Evaluate grid-connected and backup-power operating modes, including applicable transfer, synchronization, anti-islanding, and interconnection requirements.
- Verify compatibility between the inverter, battery-side converters, system controller, AC inputs, and downstream loads.
- Electrical Protection, Safety, and Thermal Performance
- Define and evaluate power electronics protection requirements, including overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, short-circuit, overtemperature, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Coordinate isolation, grounding, pre-charge, contactor sequencing, emergency shutdown, and fault-response requirements with the electrical and embedded systems teams.
- Evaluate semiconductor and converter thermal performance, cooling requirements, derating, and component operating limits.
- Apply high-voltage laboratory safety procedures when conducting power conversion tests.
- Support electrical hazard assessments, DFMEA, risk reduction, and system-level safety reviews.
- Contribute to the technical preparation required for applicable CSA, UL, IEC, and utility-interconnection assessments.
