**Forklift Operator Timber Manufacturing Yard**

**About the Role**

Join a leading **engineer-led timber construction and manufacturing company** as a **Forklift Operator** in a rapid-paced yard and production environment.

In this role, you will safely operate large-capacity forklifts and Combi lifts to move timber products, support shipping and receiving operations, and play a key role in keeping materials flowing efficiently throughout the facility.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Material Handling & Forklift Operations**

+ Safely operate large-capacity sit-down forklifts and Combi lifts to transport timber and building materials throughout the yard and production facility.
+ Load and unload trucks while ensuring materials are handled safely and accurately.
+ Stage materials for production, shipping, and storage operations.
+ Move oversized and specialty timber products efficiently while maintaining product quality.
+ Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns as required.

**Yard & Production Support**

+ Assist with material organization, inventory movement, and yard housekeeping.
+ Support shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely movement of products.
+ Handle materials manually and with equipment, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
+ Work closely with production and warehouse teams to maintain workflow and productivity.
+ Assist with general shop duties including cutting lumber, using nail guns, and preparing materials when required.

**Safety & Teamwork**

+ Follow all company safety procedures and operating standards.
+ Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas.
+ Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and team members to coordinate material movements and shipping schedules.
+ Work safely in changing weather and yard conditions.
+ Support team members across production, yard, and shipping operations as needed.

**Qualifications**

**Required**

+ Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or yard environment.
+ Experience operating sit-down counterbalance forklifts.
+ Valid forklift certification compliant with safety regulations.
+ Strong material handling and load securement experience.
+ Ability to safely load and unload trucks.
+ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
+ Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills.
+ Safety-focused mindset with a commitment to following standard operating procedures.
+ CSA-approved steel-toe work boots.
+ Ability to pass required drug and alcohol screening.

**Preferred**

+ Experience operating Combi lifts or multi-directional forklifts.
+ Experience with large timber, lumber, steel, or oversized construction materials.
+ Background in timber manufacturing, woodworking,



carpentry, or construction.
+ Experience using additional material handling equipment, including stand-up forklifts.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment.
+ Interest in advancing into Lead Hand or Supervisory positions.
+ Ability and willingness to travel to project sites when required.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abbotsford, BC.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
