Located in southeastern British Columbia, the West Kootenay region offers an exceptional combination of outdoor adventure, welcoming communities, and a relaxed mountain lifestyle.
Our Genelle operations are centrally located between Trail and Castlegar, with easy access to the surrounding communities of Rossland and Nelson.
The region is known for its spectacular mountain scenery, four-season recreation, vibrant arts and cultural communities, and excellent local restaurants, breweries, and cafés.
Whether you're an avid outdoor enthusiast or simply enjoy spending time outside, the West Kootenays offer year-round opportunities, including:
World-class skiing and snowboarding at RED Mountain Resort near Rossland and Whitewater Ski Resort near Nelson.
Extensive mountain biking and hiking trail networks throughout Rossland, Nelson, and the surrounding communities.
Fishing, boating, paddleboarding, and other water activities on the Columbia River and Kootenay Lake.
Camping, golfing, climbing, and backcountry adventures throughout the region.
Easy access to lakes, mountains, and wilderness areas without the congestion of larger urban centres.
Climate & Lifestyle
The West Kootenays enjoy four distinct seasons, with warm summers, relatively mild valley conditions compared with many other Canadian mountain regions, and snowy winters that provide excellent recreational opportunities.
The area offers a more relaxed pace of life, shorter commutes, and access to outdoor activities that are often only minutes from home.
Community, Culture & Dining
Each of the region's communities offers its own character:
Rossland: A vibrant mountain town known for skiing, mountain biking,
outdoor recreation, and a close-knit community.
