The Behavioral Health Counselor delivers counseling for a behavioral health population at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. The position conducts assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, and provides individual and group therapy. It also coordinates discharge and after-care planning with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct assessments and one-on-one patient interviews
- Formulate treatment plans and document individualized issues
- Provide therapy using various techniques
- Conduct daily group sessions based on treatment plans




- Plan discharge and communicate recommended follow-up treatment

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, counseling, psychology, or related field
- BLS and Mandatory Reporter requirements
- CADC certification within one year for chemical dependency work
- NVCI training within six months of hire
- Three years of individual and group therapy preferred
